The Water Remembers
This 5x7 greeting card from my Ethereal Creations fine art line is more than just an image—it is the beginning of a story I never expected to tell.
I have poured my love into creating ethereal portraits of Black women, luminous and timeless. But recently, something deeper began to call me. What started as a short story grew into an unfolding mythology I now call Daughters of the Deep: The Water Remembers — an Afrofuturistic, sci-fi inspired tale that blends memory, myth, and the sea.
This piece is the very first glimpse of that world. In her glowing heart and tears flowing back to the sea, you see the truth of the N’yari — the mystical daughters of the water. They are women born of the ocean’s memory, called back across time to remind the world of its connection to the tides and to nature in general. The N’yari embody both power and tenderness, grief and grace. Through them, the water speaks, carrying every sorrow and every joy, never letting the past be forgotten.
I offer this artwork now as an 8x10 print,, a tender companion for grief, reflection, and remembrance. Perfect for sending sympathy, offering encouragement, or simply reminding someone that even in the storm, the heart continues to shine. But it is also an invitation. A doorway into a story of women rising from the waves, carrying with them a truth as old as the sea itself. For the water has begun to speak, and as the N’yari say: The water remembers.
This is only the beginning. The tides are shifting, and soon more of their Afrofuturistic journey will be revealed.
